Inside No. 9

Inside No. 9 is a dark comedy television programme written by Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton.  Each series, of which there have been four, has six episodes.  All the episodes are completely different but they have one thing in common – the number “9”.

The episodes are all half an hour long, very cleverly written and thought-provoking.  Some are very funny, some are dark but all of the episodes are marvellous.  I thought I would share my three favourites so far.

Once Removed – this was the most recent episode and it was absolutely brilliant.  Den Of Geek have written a review which is far better that I could ever do so I have linked it here.  Be warned it does contain spoilers!

A Quiet Night In – Two burglars attempt to break into a house to steal a painting but once they are in, they find that the house is not empty.  The couple that live there are having an argument and are completely oblivious to the fact that they have been broken into.  Hilarity ensues as we watch the burglars trying to avoid the couple – this episode is genius as there is no absolutely dialogue.  From series 1, but I can still remember Steve & Reece as the burglars crawling along the floor trying to avoid the couple!

The 12 Days of Christine – a series 2 episode starring Sheridan Smith as Christine.  We follow her life over a period of 12 years, through the ups and downs and key events.  When the final scene is played out I was in absolute floods of tears*.

I hope we have many more series of Inside No. 9.  Have you watched any of the episodes?  What did you think?

* please note this is not a spoiler, I cry at anything – happy or sad!!
