Starring Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens, this is the story of how “A Christmas Carol” was written. It is based on the book by Les Standiford.
Charles Dickens has failed to impress his publishers with the last three books he has written (this was after the success of Oliver Twist) so he needs to make sure that the next book is a success. His deadline of Christmas is only six weeks away.
As he tries to overcome his writers block, the characters he is writing about start to come to life and he begins to interact with them. We watch as he finally completes the story but to what cost?
I really enjoyed this film – I left the cinema with a huge smile on my face. Hubby and I went to see The Man Who Invented Christmas at the beginning of December and it is possibly best only seen at this time of year – not sure it would be the same in the summer!
It wasn’t at the cinema for long as Star Wars was out at around the same time. Did you manage to get to see it? What did you think?
