REVIEW: Fast & Furious 8

I went to see Fast & Furious 8 (also known as “The Fate of the Furious”) on Friday and thought I would write a quick review for you.

Fast & Furious 8 is the eighth movie (see what I did there) in the Fast and The Furious franchise and follows Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) as he settles down to married life with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), until they are rudely interrupted by Cipher (Charlize Theron) who blackmails Dom into helping her and turns him against his team.

I’m not going to give anything else away – you’ll have to see it for yourself, but I thought it was a fantastic film.  There is plenty of action, a smattering of comedy and some cool cars.  The scenes between Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Shaw (Jason Statham) are comedy genius! (they need a film on their own in my opinion).  The addition of Scott Eastwood (son of Clint if you didn’t know) as a foil for Kurt Russells’ character Mr Nobody is great casting.

The storyline of the film may not be the best in the world – there are some definite flaws, but sometimes it’s nice to lose yourself in a film, be entertained, see stuff being blown up, and not have to think too much and this film delivers that.  Plus Statham!

Have you seen Fast & Furious 8 – did you enjoy it?  Let me know in the comments.

  1. I though the action at the finale lost some of the fabulous lunacy of fast five, six and seven but I think that was mostly the ice colour palette making things more muted. Hoping Fast 9 and 10 keep up the lunacy and we actually get Fast and Furious in Space
